From the Director's Chair ... Laurie Mitchell

What a proud teacher I am to be apart of not only the 50th Anniversary of Catholic Central as a school who everyday aims to provide for our students an education that which is important, relevant and good to prepare them for their various futures, but also as part of the team - thanks to all - who over the years has contributed in some part to 25 years of a robust, creative and ever evolving musical theatre program. It is a significant landmark and an event that by your attendance, you are helping us celebrate!

We owe the program's success to building it based on fundamental values of commitment, teamwork, honour and excellence. If you have had a student involved or been one, or helped on production staff, you know what I mean. I am often asked to write reference letters for students and interns who have been involved and I stress in those letters that it is a five-month commitment that can mean rehearsals for acting, singing and dancing five days of the week plus two weeks of shows. A lead character can average 14 hours a week in rehearsal, which is a significant commitment of time, hard work and energy to keep up with the show and often rigorous academics on a quarter system pace - amazing! The show is also a daily lesson in teamwork, diplomacy, self advocacy and understanding of all the elements that need to come together to make a successful show: music, set, costumes, properties, make-up, dancing, acting, sound, tech, budgets, ticket sales, advertising, cast bonding, manners, thankfulness and the list goes on. I have had students say being part of the musical has been: what makes them want to come to school each day, has been their favourite memory of school, has inspired them to pursue a career in the arts, has made them feel a place of belonging as part of our Eggplant family - and that is what makes all of the work that has built this legacy all worthwhile.

We invite you to "Be Our Guest" and enjoy this bright and beautiful show that has been chosen specifically to help celebrate all that 25 years has meant to those involved or entertained by Catholic Central Musical Theatre!
