The Dragon Boat team is a popular club at CCH. Now in its 5th year, the club appears to be growing each year with alumni students coming back to help with drumming and steering. Everyone is welcome to participate and all that we ask is you show up, try hard, and be a good team player. Dragon boating is all about working together and it is amazing to see the difference that a well-synchronized team can make in competition.
Each year we begin meeting in April and attending practices throughout May and June leading up to the ATB Financial Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival. The party goes on all weekend with live music, food trucks, kids activities, and races. Our CCH team(s) have a tent at the festival and for the past couple years community sponsors (thank you Chinook Waters Fly Fishing Club) have provided funding for a pizza party at Nika Yukko where we enjoy some great pizza and down time together.
The Dragon Boat association of Lethbridge is an incredibly active community and a huge supporter of our students. They are at Henderson lake each practice to help students gear up with life jackets and paddles, get safely on and off of the water, and teach proper paddling techniques.
The popularity of this fantastic sport continues to grow and we welcome you to come out and join us at the first Dragon Boat meeting in April. “Paddles up”!
