Welcome to new and returning Parents and Guardians!

Alberta Education Information on School Councils

School councils consist of:

  • a majority of parents and guardians
  • principals
  • teachers
  • secondary students
  • community representatives

School council members work together to support and enhance student learning. They provide a way for members of the community to consult with and offer advice to principals and school boards.

School councils:

  • are a bridge between the school and community
  • focus on what is best for all students in the school
  • consider the interests of all school stakeholders
  • develop, maintain and reflect the culture of the school
  • represent the parent voice in the school community

Catholic Central School Council meeting dates for the 2025-2026 school year will be hosted in the library on Campus East:

1.      October 2, 2025 @ pm AGM and First official meeting, which coincides with the first Parent/Teacher/Student Conference

2.      November 6, 2025 @ 6pm

3.      February 5, 2026 @ 6pm

4.      March 5, 2026 @ 6pm

5.      April 30, 2026 @ 6pm (no meeting agenda - this is to put together graduation gifts for Grade 12s)

6.      June 4, 2026 @ 6pm

Every parent/guardian is warmly invited to learn more about events in the school and district, meet other parents/staff, and be involved in positively shaping the direction of your school. School Council receives and discusses information about educational issues from the School Board and the school staff, manages a modest budget, and is a wonderful forum to become more involved in and connected with the Catholic Central community.

Come out to learn about what is happening in your child's school. The meetings are informative (and there is no fund raising!).

GrACE

Why? The gift of publicly-funded Catholic education in Alberta is a blessing. As a community we are called in gratitude, faith and action to ensure that our children and future generations continue to learn and grow in our Catholic schools.

What? The mission of GrACE is to inspire, invigorate and embolden the spirit of Catholic education in order to unite, engage, educate and communicate with one voice on its behalf. GrACE is a partnership of stakeholders resolutely committed to Catholic education within the province of Alberta.

Who? You! GrACE invites all those committed to Catholic education, throiugh the unity of the Holy Spirit, to be advocates and witnesses for our schools' success and their future. Where? In your homes, your neighborhoods, your schools and your parishes. Watch for and get involved with your local GrACE team. Tell your stories of Catholic education. Let your voice be heard.

When? Now! Every day is a celebration of Catholic education. Let us be grateful for our blessings and commit our support.

Did You Know?

  • Catholic education affirms parents as their children's primary educators and respects the rights of parents to choose the school that meets their needs.
  • In Catholic schools, it is our deepest desire to ensure that every child knows and experiences the love of God through the witness of their community.
  • Principles of diversity and inclusion are central in the teachings of the Catholic Church and permeate all aspects and curriculum in a Catholic school.
  • Alberta is one of three provinces in Canada with publicly funded Catholic education. Ontario and Saskatchewan are the other two.
  • Catholic education in Alberta is 158 years old.
  • An organized effort of public school lobbyists are attempting to disrupt Catholic education in our province. Your engagement; your advocacy; your voice is vital.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Romans 16:24
