Food Studies

Whether you are an aspiring chef, or simply want to learn how to cook for yourself or your family, CCH Foods is for you. We strive to maintain a hands-on approach to implementing the curriculum and there is lots of opportunity to try out different recipes and techniques. From 1000 level beginner courses to 2000 and 3000 level intermediate and advanced, we offer courses in basic baking techniques to more technical dishes and ethnic cuisine. Due to the flexibility of the CTS curriculum, the program is developed based on individual student needs and interest levels.

In addition, students reflect on their food choices and cooking experience throughout the quarter and construct individual cooking portfolios that contain a collection of recipes, images, and reflections. The portfolios can be used in a professional setting or for their own personal use and they can continue to contribute to them long after they leave the program.

We also try to get out into our community and take walking field trips to several places around Lethbridge. Depending on the season, we might visit the library, senior’s centres, Henderson Lake, and local restaurants and grocery stores.

We hope to see you in the kitchens at CCH soon!

“Food is not rational. Food is culture, habit, craving and identity”
