Japan Trip

Introduction

Students at CCH have an opportunity to travel to our sister school, St. Ursula's Academy in Sendai , Japan for a first hand experience of attending school, living with a family and experiencing all aspects of Japanese culture. The trip usually takes place in late June. Students live with students from St. Ursula's Academy and attend school each day. Highlights of past trips have included origami and calligraphy classes, learning the Japanese tea ceremony, learning to play traditional Japanese instruments and the wearing of kimonos and yukata. The trip fosters friendship and understanding between the students from each culture, and enhances students' understanding of Japanese daily life.

The exchange with St. Ursula's school was established in 2001. During the 2014 visit, Principal Carol Koran and Principal Ito from St. Ursula's held a new signing ceremony to re-establish the exchange agreement and to formally recognize the value of the sister school program in promoting cultural understanding and international friendships.
